Swift Waters Elementary Nutritious Breakfast Program

Swift Waters Elementary is Brockville’s largest elementary school, serving more than 400 students from a wide range of circumstances. For some families in the school community, food insecurity is a significant and ongoing concern, and the school has become an important source of reliable, nutritious food for their children.

Swift Waters already supports students through initiatives including its Weekender Bag program, which helps provide food for children when they are away from school. However, staff have identified an important gap in their breakfast programming. There is a population of students who rely heavily on food provided at school, and the need for a nutritious breakfast program is greater than the school can currently accommodate. The school is already outfitted with a beautiful kitchen located in the light-filled centre court of the school, making it a natural fit for program expansion.

A donation would allow Swift Waters to expand its existing breakfast program, helping ensure that more students can begin their school day with a nutritious meal in a welcoming, inclusive environment. Principal Sarah Stone will share more about the needs she is seeing firsthand, the impact food insecurity is having on students and families, and what expanded breakfast support could mean for the Swift Waters community.
